Turnkey For Good Has New CEO

Turnkey has been a force in the social good industry for 34 years under the leadership of Katrina VanHuss, Founder and CEO. During that time, our CEO fell ever more deeply in love with the business of doing good. And while that’s great and all—we really need someone to run Turnkey’s business.

Katrina ditched (without explanation) her last 14 HR meetings, feigned illness for the last eight finance meetings, and fell to her knees begging her COO not to make her read the new insurance offerings. So, we’ve all come to the realization that it’s time to let Katrina run wild in the woods of social good as convener, writer, founder, and “deployable asset.” She will also continue to serve as Turnkey’s Board Chair.

Stacey Murrell, CEO

The new CEO? The ever-ebullient, decider-of-most-things-for-the-past-year-already, Turnkey’s COO Stacey Murrell. Stacey will assume the CEO title on July 1, 2023.

When asked about her vision for Turnkey, Stacey turned again and again to community building: “My vision is to continue to build on an already well-established culture based on mutual respect. We will continue to support the talent in the industry who strive to make the world a better place.”

“Now, as CEO, and having worked with major nonprofits for years, I can achieve do-gooding at scale through Turnkey. Scale is important. Early in my career I was ‘the cookie lady;’ I had scale. I oversaw the annual distribution of over three million boxes of cookies for the Commonwealth of Virginia Girl Scout Council. ‘Death by Thin Mint’ is a thing.”

Stacey continued, “With the founder still in the house, I will need lots of Chardonnay, deep breathing, and honest feedback! Seriously though, I think allowing Katrina to focus on the parts of the business that she loves will serve Turnkey well. She will continue to innovate while I focus on growth.”

Will Katrina display the typical attitudes associated with founders who stay in the organization? Will Stacey be able to manage Katrina successfully as a subordinate? Is Katrina really, as she has joked in the past, “unemployable?” Time will tell...

One thing that’s sure is Turnkey will continue to support and promote the success of social good professionals in its community. That’s you.
